Senior journalist Ali Mamud, city editor of the daily Dainik Dinkal, was found dead inside a washroom at the National Press Club in Dhaka on 10 February 2026.
According to Shahbagh police, officers broke open the locked washroom door around 9:00 am in the presence of his family members and recovered his body. Blood was reportedly seen coming from his nose and mouth. Police initially suggested that he may have suffered a stroke, although the exact cause of death has not yet been officially confirmed.
Ali Mamud had reportedly arrived at the Press Club the previous day and entered the washroom at some point but did not come out. His body was later sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Authorities stated that a post-mortem examination would depend on the decision of his family.
Ali Mamud also served as a member of the media cell of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
